Surely, there is one par of jeans that fits perfectly on you.

The History of the Jeans

The history of the jeans is pretty interesting, and helps us understand why this garment became so popular nowadays. In the beginning, a pair of jeans was worn only for workers who work at coalmines. It was a made of a rough textile, which was very durable and perfect for this type of job. Jacobs Davis and Levi Strauss invented the term “jeans” in 1873, and lately, it became very popular among cowboys, and teenagers. Now, the jeans are very well known and prized for almost everybody in the world.
During the time, different styles and shades of jeans were created. From the classic Levi’s 501 to the edge, such as boot cut, skinny, boyfriend, flare and wide legged, regardless your body shape, there is always a pair of jeans perfect for you. In this article, we are going to focus on the shades of these wardrobe basics.

These are the more trendy and casual shade of jeans, but you have to be careful with them though. Remember, the washed jeans make us looks bigger, so if you are curvy (as I am), try to avoid them. However, the light shade is perfect to mix and match with other denim shades. It’s like the universal donor of the jeans: It goes with every tone.

#2 The Dark Shade of Jeans

AKA blue jeans or indigo, these are particularly identified with American culture especially the American Old West. The dark blue tone is its DNA, and, this is the one that everybody can wear it! If you want to buy a pair of jeans and don’t want to worry about how to mix and match, this is your choice. This shade is traditional and more formal, which means the classiest. Remember that: The darker the color, the more slimming the jeans, and makes you look taller. So, if you want to look like that, this is your best choice.

#3 The Mid Shade of Jeans

The medium jeans work the same as the dark or indigo one. They go with almost everything. Just one single and valuable advice: Avoid the denim-on-denim look with the medium shade. I know that the 90’s are super trendy right now, but this is a combination that we have to forget (Definitely, I do!). Meanwhile, as I wrote before (go to the Light shade of Jeans), the secret of making this ensemble works is to vary the denim weights and colors.

#4 The Color Shade of Jeans

Colored jeans are the best way to turn your outfit in something unique and very trendy. If you like to go classic, choose the white or black shades. Otherwise, you can play with a plenty of color jeans that is available. Style tip: For a perfect summer look, try to wear bright and light colors, such as pale pink, light blue, mint, turquoise or coral. For the cold days of winter, the best choice is the dark colors, quite as gray, burgundy, darkish red or green.
In this way, it is not so difficult to choose the best shade of jeans for you. Always remember that everybody is unique, which means, your body is different from mine and what goes for me doesn’t mean that goes for you. So, each time that you are not sure what shade of jeans is good for you, try to follow the rule of thumb of style, which is always being yourself, and wear clothes that are interpretations of who you are. The most terrible mistake in fashion is to try to wear something that doesn’t correspond to your personality and body type.
